A Family Tradition

In 1966 we became a family of five. Good jobs for women were few, especially in the hours available for a mother of three small children. We lived in Bloomington, when building south of the river was blossoming. We needed a bigger home with not much bigger payments and several agents were searching to find a home for us. No one suggested we cross the river – no one suggested a fixer upper – no one could find us anything better than what we had, so we built an addition to our small home. Suddenly, the excitement of turning our little cottage into a charming and comfortable home started our new careers and a family tradition began...
